Randy & Brenda
The Holy Spirit is moving over Kansas City. He is writing stories in and through each of our Hubs. Here’s one unfolding on the western edge of the city…
Randy and Brenda have been planting the Gospel in their neighborhood for more than ten years. Over that time, they’ve seen three different expressions of spiritual family emerge, grow, and change. They know one thing for sure: relationships are key.
For the past eight years, they’ve been investing in a family two streets over (let’s call them Family #1). There have been parties, meals, kids’ activities, and plenty of time together. But despite years of friendship, spiritual conversations have been rare and “fruit” seemed slow to appear.
Then, about a year ago, another family (Family #2) joined the missional team. By God’s design, they live directly across the street from Family #1. Their kids became fast friends. And last week at microchurch, Family #2 showed up with one of Family #1’s children walking right alongside them.
For the second week in a row, this child sat with the microchurch, learning about prayer, the Bible, and how much Jesus loves him. Randy and Brenda could hardly believe it. After years of planting seeds, God had used Family #2 to water those seeds, and now growth is beginning to appear.
This story reminds us: Gospel planting is slow and deeply relational. It requires perseverance. We plant and water, but God alone makes things grow. And fruit often looks different than we expect.
Where is God asking you to keep planting seeds, even if you can’t yet see the fruit? Join us in praying for stories like this all across Kansas City.
