Sharing Jesus Through Hospitality
In this story from the KC Underground Network, Grant Ford shares how God is moving in his neighborhood through relational ministry.
“Two and a half years ago, those were just seeds. Now, Jesus is like, this is the time.” - Grant Foard
Two and a half years ago, Grant and his family moved into their neighborhood with a heart to build relationships and share Jesus. They practiced hospitality as a primary way to meet neighbors and create spaces for meaningful conversations. One neighbor, “John,” initially displayed some resistance and shame toward discussions about faith, leading Grant to pray consistently for him rather than push the relationship forward.
After two years of prayer and gentle guidance from the Holy Spirit, Grant felt prompted to boldly invite John to spend intentional time exploring Jesus together. During these meetings, Grant emphasized personal connection over church attendance, clarifying that he wasn’t inviting John to his microchurch, but wanted to share the life-transforming love of Jesus.
Through coffee chats, Bible readings, and relational moments, John’s openness grew. Eventually, his wife and family joined the gatherings, curious to learn more about Jesus and the Bible. Grant’s patience and faithfulness over two and a half years became a powerful example of how God can work in His timing, revealing Himself gradually in lives that were once resistant.
Grant concludes by celebrating God’s work, encouraging others to listen to the Spirit, obey His guidance, and trust the process of transformation.
