Jesus is the Center

Today, as the Underground, we come together in prayer and fasting. Every great move of God in the Bible and throughout history begins with Extraordinary Prayer and Fasting. From the other side of eternity, we will find that the most influential people were not, perhaps, Presidents or Prime Ministers, but the people who walked with God through passionate prayer.

Today’s Prayer Focus: Jesus Is the Center

On Tuesdays, we all come together to center ourselves on Jesus. Life can often feel like one of those old school merry-go-rounds, you know the ones that got removed from every playground after a few too many broken legs? We are all hanging on for dear life on the edges, trying to claw our way to the center, where everything is a bit slower and safer. Today as we pray to be centered on Jesus, we move towards Him, the center of the giant merry-go-round that is our lives.

Reflect:

Find a peaceful place, close your eyes, and take note of how you feel. Do you feel joy? Maybe you’re confused, stressed, hurt, or lonely. Imagine yourself on the edge of a spinning life; turn to the center, see Jesus there, and walk toward Him.

Read:

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”
-Matthew 11:28-30

Reflect:

At the edges of life, we find a sense of ‘more.’ There’s more to achieve, more to gain, more for you to be. At the center of life, we find Jesus, who brings rest.

What are the things that have pulled you away from the rest of Jesus at the center and to the spinning frenzy of life on the edge?

What are the things you need to leave at the spinning edge today?

Spend a few moments, find yourself back on the merry- go-round of life. Instead of walking towards Jesus with the weight of the world on your shoulders, drop the things that need to be dropped at the edge and turn toward Jesus.

Read:

My soul clings to You;
Your right hand upholds me.
-Psalm 68:3

Reflect:

As you walk towards Jesus at the center, our source of peace, we cling to him. Just as we did as children at the playground, we hold on for dear life to Jesus at the center of life’s merry-go-round.

Lord, guide us toward you today. We leave our burdens and weight at the edge and walk towards you at the center, our perfect source of rest.
