God Is Still Moving: Lord, Do It Again in Our Day

Introduction
On September 18, 2026, believers from across North America will gather for the National Prayer Summit to seek God together for spiritual renewal, disciple-making, and gospel saturation in our cities and nations.
As we prepare for that gathering, we have looked back at moments in church history when God used extraordinary prayer and ordinary people to spark movements of renewal. The early Church, the Celtic missionaries, the Moravians, the Wesleyan revival, the Korean prayer movement, and the East African Revival each remind us that God has repeatedly worked through humble people who sought Him together.
But these stories are not only history. God is still moving today.
Across Africa, Asia, Latin America, and the Middle East, millions of people are coming to faith in Jesus through simple disciple-making movements. In places where believers face persecution, where churches have few resources, or where the gospel has only recently taken root, God continues to raise up ordinary women and men who pray, make disciples, gather new believers into simple communities of faith, and send them to do the same with others.
These movements do not depend on large budgets, famous leaders, or impressive platforms. They are sustained through prayer, obedience to Scripture, the power of the Holy Spirit, and faithful disciples who simply pass on what they have received.
The same God who worked throughout history continues to work today.
As we pray this week, we ask God to awaken the same faith, humility, and dependence within His Church across North America. As we prepare for the National Prayer Summit, we ask Him to do in our generation what He has done throughout history—forming ordinary people into faithful disciple-makers who participate in His mission.

Reflection
Throughout this series, we have seen different expressions of God’s work across cultures and centuries. Every movement has been unique, yet each has shared common threads.
People humbled themselves before God.
They devoted themselves to prayer.
They were shaped by Scripture.
They loved one another deeply.
They stepped out in obedience.
They entrusted the results to the Holy Spirit.
The same pattern continues today. Across the world, God is raising up disciple-makers who gather in homes, apartments, coffee shops, schools, workplaces, refugee camps, villages, and city neighborhoods. Many of these believers will never become well-known. Yet through simple obedience, the gospel continues to spread from one life to another.
History reminds us that movements are never manufactured. They are received. They begin as people seek God together, respond faithfully to His leading, and join Him in what He is already doing.
As we prepare to gather at the National Prayer Summit, our hope is not rooted in recreating the past. Our hope is rooted in the unchanging character of God. The God who moved before continues to move today.

Throughout history, God has consistently worked through ordinary people who made themselves available to Him.

Pray
Read through these prayer prompts slowly and prayerfully. Notice which ones the Holy Spirit seems to highlight for you this week. Spend extra time praying in those areas.
Thank God that He continues to move throughout the world today.
Ask God to awaken fresh faith and expectancy within His Church across North America.
Pray that ordinary believers would embrace their calling to make disciples wherever God has placed them.
Ask the Holy Spirit to prepare hearts for the National Prayer Summit through humility, unity, and dependence upon Him.
Pray that the Summit would strengthen relationships, encourage faithful leaders, and catalyze new movements of disciple-making and gospel saturation.
Ask God to do in our generation what He has done throughout history—bringing renewal to His Church and drawing many people to Jesus through ordinary disciples empowered by the Holy Spirit.
