The Beauty Initiative

Why is the Beauty Initiative needed at this time in Kansas City?

In a culture saturated with noise, hustle, and division, many people in Kansas City feel spiritually disoriented and emotionally numb. Beauty is often dismissed as secondary or ornamental, yet people are aching for wonder, meaning, and connection in their everyday lives. We’ve found that beauty—when rooted in God’s presence—can cut through the chaos and awaken the soul. But without intentional integration, this powerful language of the Spirit is overlooked in both the Church and the city.

How is the Beauty Initiative a catalytic solution to the problem?

The Beauty Initiative helps people recover their capacity to see beauty around them, hear what God is speaking without words, and finding biblical meaning behind it all.

We learn to create with God. We curate experiences, create tools, and cultivate communities that help ordinary people encounter the sacred in the ordinary. We equip artists to use their gifts prophetically and missionally, and we invite everyone, regardless of artistic ability, to engage beauty as a spiritual practice. By integrating beauty into the life of discipleship, mission, and justice, we’re helping people pay attention to God’s presence all around them.

How does the Beauty Initiative bring beauty, justice, and the Good News of Jesus to Kansas City?

With the Beauty Initiative, people are slowing down. Paying attention. Finding healing. They’re discovering that beauty is not an escape from reality, but a deeper engagement with it. Microchurches are using beauty-based resources to reach their neighborhoods. Artists are being unleashed as missionaries. People who never saw themselves as creative are awakening to wonder and participating in God’s redemptive work in new ways. The spiritual landscape of Kansas City is being enriched—one moment of beauty at a time.
