Dani Shouse • Disciple Maker
Speaking Truth Over Little Hearts
In this story from the KC Underground Network, Breanna Wiebe talks with Dani, a preschool teacher connected to the Independence Hub, about a powerful moment of Holy Spirit movement inside her classroom.
“Where the enemy planted lies, the Holy Spirit interrupted with truth.” — Dani Shouse
While covering a break in a classroom she doesn’t normally teach in, Dani witnessed a young boy overwhelmed with emotion, repeatedly saying, “I’m a bad kid.” Instead of correcting behavior alone, Dani sensed the Holy Spirit prompting her to speak identity over him. She gently pulled him aside, hugged him, and began leading him through simple affirmations: “I am a good kid. I am loved.”
At first hesitant, the child slowly whispered the words. Then something shifted. Confidence grew. Boldness followed. Soon he was declaring, “I am loved. I am blessed. I am more than a conqueror.”
What started as a quiet, one-on-one moment began spreading through the entire classroom. Dani began leading all the children in affirmations rooted in truth. Now, when one child struggles, others step in to remind them: “You’re loved. You’re chosen.”
The impact hasn’t stopped at school. Parents report their children speaking those same words of life at home—encouraging moms and dads on hard days.
Dani reflects that where the enemy tries to plant lies and false identity, the Holy Spirit is interrupting and planting truth in the next generation.
This story captures a core heartbeat of the KC Underground: disciple-making isn’t confined to church spaces. It happens in classrooms, through small moments of obedience, and through speaking gospel truth into everyday life.
