Identifying People of Peace and Healing Them

Prayer theme: Luke 10:1-9

Even before the Holy Spirit was poured out, we see Jesus sending the 70 out to places He was about to visit. Their mission? Finding people of peace. And when encountering them, healing those in the area who are sick and letting them know that the kingdom of God is near. Have you considered why you are in your neighborhood, youth group, or workplace? You are a forerunner.

Can We Pray for the Sick with Confidence?

Read the Great Commission from Mark 16:15–20:

And He said to them, ‘Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation... These signs will accompany those who have believed: in My name they will cast out demons...they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.’

So then, when the Lord Jesus had spoken to them, He was received up into heaven and sat down at the right hand of God.

And they went out and preached everywhere, while the Lord worked with them, and confirmed the word by the signs that followed.”

The Role Abiding in the Vine and in the Word of God Plays in Our Prayers

Read: John 15:7–8 “If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you. My Father is glorified by this, that you bear much fruit, and so prove to be My disciples.”

Reflect and Pray

As you read this Scripture, what is God highlighting for you? Take a few minutes to reflect.

Did you see that Scripture offers you greater dimensions in prayer than you’ve noticed before? Spend some time in conversation with the Father, thanking Him for this new boldness due to this key to answered prayers.

Pray

Father, You said these signs will accompany those who believe. I’m like the father with the demonized son: I believe—help my unbelief. Lord, would You release faith in me to take a risk to pray for a sick person, knowing I only do a small part and You do the big part? Confirm the words I’m sharing about You with these healing signs.

Thank You for allowing me to abide in Your vine. Thank You that Your words abide in me. I ask, Father, that You glorify Yourself by answering the prayers I offer—many prayers of healing—and let these fruitful endeavors validate my discipleship in new ways.

Guide me, Lord, to the people of peace that You’ve prepared beforehand for prayer.
