Psalms 105 & 128

Tuesdays are important corporate days of Prayer and Fasting for the Kansas City Underground alongside our friends throughout the world. As we step into the second half of 2023, we continue to invite everyone to focus on a Psalm on the first Tuesday of each month. For this Tuesday, we’re actually going to look at verses from two Psalms that sisters and brothers in Jesus’ global Church around the world have been reflecting on to bring July to a close and embrace the next summer month of August.

This week, we’re resting and rejoicing in parts of Psalms 105 and 128 in light of the wonders of God. Sing about His miraculous works and judgments with Wonder:

Have you ever seen the wonder in the glimmer of first sight as the eyes begin to open and the blindness meets the light? ... Have you ever seen the wonder in the air of second life, having come out of the waters with the old one left behind? ... I see the world in grace, I see the world in Gospel, I see the world Your way, and I’m walking in the light. I’m walking in the wonder. You’re the wonder in the wild ...

Theme:

Wonder: There’s More Abundance for You to Re- ceive from God to Close Your Summer

Today’s scriptures:

Psalm 105:1-6 and Psalm 128:1-2 in the NIV, The Message (MSG)

Read: Psalm 105:1-3

NIV: Give praise to the LORD, proclaim His name; make known among the nations what He has done. Sing to Him, sing praise to Him; tell of all His wonderful acts. Glory in His holy name; let the hearts of those who seek the LORD rejoice.

MSG: Thank God! Pray to Him by name! Tell everyone you meet what He has done! Sing Him songs, belt out hymns, translate His wonders into music! Honor His holy name with Hallelujahs, you who seek God. Live a happy life!

Reflect:

What have you praised the LORD for lately? What’s made you want to belt out a Hallelujah? Be happy?

Pray:

Translate your wonderings about God into happy praise. Give Him glory. Smile and sing. Be still and know.

Read: Psalm 105:4-6

NIV: Look to the LORD and His strength; seek His
face always. Remember the wonders He has done, His miracles, and the judgments He pronounced, you His servants, the descendants of Abraham, His chosen ones, the children of Jacob.

MSG: Keep your eyes open for God, watch for His works; be alert for signs of His presence. Remember the world of wonders He has made, His miracles, and the verdicts He’s rendered—O seed of Abraham, His servant, O child of Jacob, His chosen.

Reflect:

When did you look to God this summer? Where have you watched His work? Took time to wonder?

Pray:

Be His child. Praise Him for when He invited you to play recently. Ask to see another miracle. Anticipate.

Read: Psalm 128:1-2

NIV: Blessed are all who fear the LORD, who walk in obedience to Him. You will eat the fruit of your labor; blessings and prosperity will be yours.

MSG: All you who fear God, how blessed you are! How happily you walk on His smooth straight road! You worked hard and deserve all you’ve got coming. Enjoy the blessing! Soak in the goodness!

Reflect:

What goodness can you soak in right now? What do you want God to bless? What makes you happy?

Pray:

Celebrate how you have continued to walk with God this year. Enjoy His blessings this August. Rest well.
